Coming Soon: Report on the Status of Women and Girls in Western Massachusetts, 2019

By September 1, 2019March 16th, 2021No Comments

Since the publication of our Status of Women in Western Massachusetts, 2013, we have seen progress in a number of areas for women, as well as places to grow. In order to understand our region’s status, we sought to commission a new baseline of research on the status of women in the four counties of Western Massachusetts, and expanded the lens to include girls. The Public Health Institute of Western Massachusetts analyzed specific indicators identified by the WFWM and the Research Advisory Council of topical experts to measure women and girls’ empowerment and help us better understand what areas our region is thriving or meeting challenges.

The research on the Status of Women and Girls in Western Massachusetts, 2019  will serve as a resource to inform the WFWM direction, and especially inform and equip the organizations in Western Massachusetts who are serving women and girls with the knowledge to identify the problems concretely and propose evidence-based solutions. To achieve gender equity, we must amplify our capacity to create collaborative solutions with the greatest positive impact.

Empowering women almost always results in the empowerment of all people. Women and girls are the glue of our families, communities, and ultimately the world.
