Nicole M. Young serves in a part-time capacity as the Community Investments Manager for the Women’s Fund of Western Massachusetts.  Ever passionate about the Western Mass community, she continues to work with the United Way of Pioneer Valley, too.  Her areas of expertise include community relations, grantmaking, event planning, program development, assessment/evaluation, and education.  She has taught Composition and Writing courses for several Pioneer Valley based universities and regularly leads creative writing workshops for youth, educators, activists, and community leaders.  A proud alumna of WFWM’s Leadership Institute for Political and Public Impact, Nicole is involved in her community, serving on several nonprofit boards and committees including with Straw Dog Writers Guild, Women of Color Health Equity Collective, Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts and Women for UMass Amherst.

Nicole is also a performance poet and playwright whose work has been performed in various venues across Massachusetts, New York and Michigan.

Nicole earned a Bachelor of Theatre Arts from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Management from Wayne State University and a Master of Arts in English from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.  She will begin the Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership and Organizational Studies at Bay Path University this fall.  Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Nicole currently resides in Windsor, Connecticut.
