Young Women’s Initiative: Listening Session

Calling all girls and young women in the Greater Springfield Area – We want to hear from YOU! We are proud to host our next YWI (Young Women’s Initiative) Listening Session with the Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts in Holyoke, MA. Pizza and refreshments will be served.

The Women’s Fund of Western Massachusetts is hosting a series of listening sessions this summer, where we will come together to hear young women share stories about how they creatively navigate the lack of access to practical educational programs, health care, career development opportunities, or other obstacles that stand in their way to thriving in our community. Working together, we will make a plan of action to address these issues with our new Young Women’s Initiative (YWI).

The YWI is an effort to create sustainable prosperity for young women, especially young women of color, with disabilities, LGBTQI and non-gender conforming youth, and young women with a background of family economic hardship. The YWI Springfield Partnership strives to activate young women’s voices by centering their leadership to produce systems changes, and improve their lives and communities.

We will be hosting these sessions throughout the summer, and are seeking youth and organizations serving youth to collaborate on behalf of young leadership in the Greater Springfield region.

Please note the session is for girls and young women 12-24 only. Parents accompanying youth will be asked to return or wait in another room. This is not an adult networking event.
