A good workplace is a just workplace. It’s inclusive, it’s diverse, it nurtures a culture of belonging, and it wants the best possible people working there, so it employs equitable hiring practices. The first step in advancing the leadership of women of color and gender-diverse BIPOC within an organization is getting them in the door. It has been well documented that bias is present in the hiring process in most organizations.
In this session of the Equity Succession Planning Series, we’ll discuss how to develop an equity mindset. We’ll identify the types of bias that operate in the hiring process and examine where and how it shows up in the job posting, applicant review, and interviewing process. We will discuss outreach ideas for drawing a diverse pool of candidates and provide equitable hiring guidelines and templates.
