A New Chapter: Greetings from our New CEO
Joining the Women’s Fund was a timely career growth opportunity that aligned with my core values and intention to lead with purpose.
I was born and raised in Springfield’s North End. As we continue to celebrate the accomplishments of Hispanic/Latinx Heritage “all year long”, I want to take a moment to acknowledge my Puerto Rican roots and how it informs my leadership. Growing up in a vibrant community that cherishes resilience and solidarity, I understand the power of collective action.
I am genuinely grateful for all the people who have encouraged me over the years and I want to lift up the strength of my mom and daughter who guided my path. My lived experience fuels my passion for advocating for gender equity and social justice.
Reflecting on my first 90 days in this leadership transition as CEO of the Women’s Fund, listening, learning, and engagement have been my priority internally, with our staff and board, and externally, with our community partners and supporters locally and nationally. Our collaborative brainstorming sessions, culture of inclusion, and diverse perspectives have informed our decision-making and will strengthen our impact. As a remote office workplace, I’m excited about our newly formed wellness initiative with first steps beginning with a walking challenge during the workday.
Looking ahead, as the Women’s Fund enters our 27th year boldly, I am committed to ensuring that we reflect the rich, diverse identities and wisdom that define our communities. I am eager to deepen our relationships with partners and stakeholders across all four counties, amplifying women’s stories, uplifting the work of our grantees, mentoring the next generation of philanthropists through our Young Women’s Initiative, and expanding our network of partners and supporters.
I want to express my sincere gratitude for the warm welcome I’ve received so far. I’ve appreciated the words of wisdom and the generous support. I look forward to meeting many of you, learning from you, and hearing your ideas and aspirations to inform the sustainability and progress of the Women’s Fund.
Thank you for being an essential part of our history. Together, we can create a future where women, girls, and gender-diverse people of all backgrounds will thrive. I invite you to join me in this collective effort.
Yours in Community,
Vanessa Pabón-Hernandez
